There’ll be even more to love about the Swiss brand Akris come fall, when designer Albert Kriemler unveils the label’s debut handbag collection at its October 4 show in Paris. Style.com got a sneak peek at the line this morning, and all of us left the meeting wanting to place an order. The bags are designed with the same subtlety and meticulous care the brand is known for—with not a logo in sight. Instead, Kriemler developed the trapezoid as a “signature element” that appears in various incarnations throughout the line, which includes a weekender bag, a classic evening pochette, and roomy top-handle styles in tones of greige, cayenne, and ebony. In keeping with the label’s textile legacy, there are fabric as well as leather bags—they’re made of horsehair by a Bavarian company Akris recently acquired. (A quick education in horsehair: It’s made from cotton or silk woven with hair from a horse’s tail. It takes a day to weave two and a half meters and no animals are harmed in its production.) The bags, in any case, are something to yodel about.
